MS Excel 2011 for Mac: Enable Right Mouse Click on Mac

This Excel tutorial explains how to enable the right mouse click in Excel 2011 for Mac (with screenshots and step-by-step instructions).

Question: I'm using Excel for Mac and there are instructions that say to right click in Excel, but I don't have "Right Click" capability. How can I enable my mouse to allow a right click on the Mac?

Answer: You can easily change the settings on your Mac to allow a secondary click on your mouse. In other words, allow your mouse to have both a left click and a right click response.

To do this, first select your System Preferences. This icon looks like a gear and is usually found at the bottom of your screen.

Microsoft Excel

Once your System Preferences window opens, click on the Mouse icon.

When the Mouse window opens, you will be able to configure the behavior of your mouse on your Mac.

Select the option called Secondary click so that it is checked.

Then choose Click on right side from the drop down.

Now when you click on the right side of the mouse, it will simulate a right mouse button click. When you click on the left side of the mouse, it will send a left mouse click.
